Mae Ya Resort

Mae Ya Resort is a four-star resort in Tanote Bay & Ao Leuk on Koh Tao, with private-pool rooms overlooking the sea and mountains.

Both room types accommodate two and include air conditioning, a private bathroom, a balcony, a terrace and a flat-screen TV. The King Room is 45 m², while the Deluxe King Room is 50 m²; each has a super-king-size bed, a private pool, and sea and mountain views. Rooms also come with a shower, toiletries, bathrobes, towels and a hairdryer.

Ao Leuk is 400 m away, and guests note that the secluded hillside approach is steep. There is no parking on site. Both have the same bed layout, one extra-large double bed (Super-king size), and each provides a private bathroom with a shower. Their fittings also follow a consistent pattern: air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a wardrobe, clothes rack, electric kettle and free toiletries are provided in both. Towels, a bathrobe, hairdryer, toilet and toilet paper complete the bathroom details. The Deluxe King Room offers the larger floor area, with the same stated capacity and main room features; the King Room has the same view-and-pool setup in a more compact 45 m².

The shared facilities centre on an outdoor swimming pool, while both room types have private pools, balconies and terraces. Air conditioning, a fan and a private entrance are provided, and the resort is non-smoking throughout. Room service is available, with a safety deposit box among the general facilities. Ao Leuk is 400 m away, Golden View Campsite is 600 m away, and Cindy’s Tower is 850 m away. Guests note that the resort approach includes a steep hill. Coral lies close to the sand at the east-coast bays, where resort restaurants serve visitors; there is no ATM or 7-Eleven in this part of the island.

Koh Tao is reached by ferry, with services arriving at Mae Haad; Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier is 2.2 km from Mae Ya Resort. A pick-up truck taxi can cover the island road from the pier, and scooters are another way to travel, though the concrete routes down to Tanote Bay and Ao Leuk are very steep. There is no parking at the resort, so arrange transport for the final stretch rather than leaving a vehicle on site.

For swimming and snorkelling, Ao Leuk is the closest named beach, while Ao Sai Daeng is 1.1 km away and Ao Tanote Beach is 1.3 km away. Cindy’s Tower provides a nearby viewpoint, and Nangyuan Island is 6 km away for a boat trip to its sandbars. Diving is a major Koh Tao activity, with sites around the island. The east coast tends to be calmer from April to October, while the west and south coasts are generally calmer from November to March. Rough seas can disrupt ferries, particularly from November to January.
